Why Do Animals Have Fur?

I think animals have fur to keep them warm in the winter. Animals grow an extra coat of fur for a reason-TO STAY WARM!!!!!!(and keep from freezing! (l.o.l.)) Fur can be all different colors, sometimes even depending on what the animal eats! Clams rely on what they eat to get their color too!
